Put Another Way.

“What would it take to render abortion obsolete in this country?”

To answer that question we can look at pregnancy help ministries like Alternate Avenues where we are the front line in protecting the lives of the least among us.

It is here where decisions—life or death decisions—are made, and here where, if we are the first choice of women facing an unplanned pregnancy, they will never consider the other option, that of an abortion clinic.

When they look here first for answers we will see abortion clinics—more and more of them—close their doors forever. When these clinics no longer have customers they will—and we’re seeing this happen—go out of business.

When this takes place, abortion can—and will—become obsolete. This isn’t a dream; it’s a proven reality that comes to fruition when enough of us step up to the plate and say, “Count me in” the great endeavor to make our center—and others like ours—that first choice.

An interesting number

A recent poll by Pew Research showed that 44% of Americans view themselves as pro-life, wanting to see abortion restricted more than it is today.

Looking at the numbers, this means that some 51 million of the 116 million households in America are pro-life. That’s quite a number.

And here’s another number: To be conservative, if 45 million   of those households committed just $13.60 a month to a life- affirming ministry like ours—and there are about 2,500 such ministries in this country—the average pregnancy care ministry would have a budget of $245,000 per month or $8,050 per day!

Do you think $8,050 per day—or more than $2.9 million per year—would be enough for us to compete head to head with these clinics? Could we afford the advertising needed to effectively reach these women? With a budget like that, could we provide the services these young women need? You’d better believe it.

With a budget like that, the question of making abortion obsolete would not be answered with an “if,” but with “when.” That’s the truth.

We are looking for Champions willing to contribute $13.60 a month.   That’s about three Happy Meals a month. Maybe a  few trips to a coffee shop, or an upper level seat at an event or a ballgame. That’s it, and we’ve changed the world we live in.

So what do we do?

While these numbers are stunning, it’s also true that not everyone who answers a poll question is ready to get involved. My hope is that you are. Here, we serve a population of 1.3 million. That’s 500,000 households and if 44% of those households are pro-life, we’re looking at 220,000 households who could be giving to us.

Translated? That’s $2.9 million per month in income, $36 million per year (we actually operate our clinic for around 1% of this amount).

Would you consider a monthly gift to Alternate Avenues? It may be for the $13.60 mentioned above, but you may decide to take this a step further and say, “Count me in for some of those who are staying on the sidelines.” This could mean an investment in this ministry of $27, $55, $108 or more. I don’t know your financial situation, but I do believe you—like me—want to take action.

My question is simple: Will you join us?

Finally . . .

I think you’ll agree with me that it is time for all of us to step it up in our defense of life. By taking action we’re saying, “It’s time to end abortion here in the Inland Empire—and across America—once and for all.” Together, we can do just that—and your monthly gift will make the difference.

Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts. I look forward to your response, and look forward to letting you know how your gifts are creating a culture of life—and shutting down those who seek to take the lives of precious children.
